This ring was known as a "Vindobonensis" style and is named after the Codex Vindobonensis Mexicanus I. The Codex is an accordion-folded pre-Columbian piece of Mixtec writing. The ring features three vertical graduated balls with incised circles set on a scalloped silver sheet with balled bead silver accents. The ring was made by Alfredo Villasana, a Taxco Silversmith who once worked for both William Spratling and Hector Aguilar before opening his own workshop in the 1950's.

Marked: Taxco 980 conjoined AV mark (Alfredo Villasana's makers mark)
Condition: The center dome on the ring has been dented by previous use/wear. The ring has patina which can be cleaned by buyer if preferred.
