Vintage Sterling Aksel Holmsen Viking Ship Brooch | AKSEL HOLMSEN STERLING | Sterling Norway Brooch

This brooch features a beautifully rendered Viking ship under full sail, with waves breaking on the bows, a dragon-headed prow, and with 8 shields along the side. The brooch was made by Aksel Holmsen a Norwegian silversmith who opened a small workshop in Sandefjord, Norway in 1904. The company is well known for it's modernist esthetic and use of gold plated silver with enameled guilloche and basse-taille designs.

The c-clasp closure is in working condition. It has patina which can be cleaned by buyer if preferred.
