Antique Victorian Vulcanite Floral Cameo Pendant | Antique Tear Drop Rose Cameo Pendant

The tear drop shaped cameo is made from vulcanite. It features a high relief rose design in the center with a decorative frame border. The pendant can be worn with a velvet ribbon. Vulcanite is a type of vulcanized rubber formed by combining sulphur and India rubber. When rubbed gently you get the scent of burning rubber. This material was very popular during the Victorian era and was used to make molded jewelry pieces, such as this mourning pendant.

Condition: You can see some of the glue the center rose was applied with (see photo).
