Victorian Laurel Wreath Ruby and Seed Pearl Rolled Gold Locket | Antique Laurel Wreath Locket

The locket features a lovely applied laurel wreath design on the front and smooth backside. One side of the branches is set with 10 rubies and one side is set with 10 seed pearls. The locket opens and inside it contains the two original little frames to hold the photos in place on each side. One side comes with the original glass and silk insert. This locket is ready to accommodate a loved one photos.

A laurel wreath is used as a symbol of victory, success, honor and achievement.

Marks: As with many antique pieces, the locket is unmarked for metal content/maker. Acid and Electronic gold testing where inconclusive for actual karat of gold (ranged from 10-18-24kt) which leads me to believe it is gold filled/rolled gold. Rubies were tested with an electronic gemstone tester.

Weight: 18.3 grams total

Measurements: 2.0140 inches long and 1.2565 inches wide

Condition: Hinge and closure work perfectly and it snaps shut nicely. There are some minor dings and scratches; all wear and character to the piece consistent with age/use (see photos). The piece has not been polished and shows patina which can be cleaned by buyer if preferred.

This is a lovely unique piece of Victorian jewelry and would make a great gift for a collector of Victoriana or Antique Jewelry.
