Vintage August Birthday Charm | August Gladiolus Flower | August Birth Flower

The charm is a scalloped round shape with a center enamel gladiolus flower design that reads: August Gladiolus. The back is plain silver. The gladiolus or "sword lily" is the birth flower for the month of August because they make their debut in the garden around this time of year. The name gladiolus comes from the latin word for sword (gladius) which refers to the leaves shape. The flower symbolizes strength and integrity and when given as a gift can also mean love at first sight.
