Vintage Egyptian Revival Scarab Bar Brooch | WRE 12k Yellow Gold Filled Carved Scarab Beetle | Scarab Carved Gemstones
Vintage Egyptian Revival Scarab Bar Brooch | WRE 12k Yellow Gold Filled Carved Scarab Beetle | Scarab Carved Gemstones
The brooch features 5 prong set carved stone cabochons in a bar. The stones are carved to resemble scarab beetles. The back of the stones is open so you can partially see the carved stones from the bottom. The stones I believe are tigers eye (brown stone), carnelian (red stone), chalcedony (blue and green stones) and unakite (green/pink stone). Scarab jewelry is said to represent good luck, rebirth and regeneration. The stones used in the brooch also carry with them their own meaning. The brooch was made by the W.E. Richards Company who was founded in 1902. The WRE mark was used in 1944.
